Detox and Cleansing for the New Year
It’s the start of the New Year and the one thing that I like to talk about right now is cleansing and detoxifying your body of all the ‘gunk’ that has built up over the year or the last time you did a good cleanse. I usually do a good cleanse twice a year….for me I like doing one after the Super Bowl and again after the 4th of July.
Think of a good cleanse like flushing out your radiator, oil filter of your car, or changing your air filter in your house. These things get dirty and need to be changed or cleaned…just like our liver, large intestine and lymph system.
In case you didn’t know, the liver is the largest detoxifying organ next to your skin. It breaks down the toxins and packages them up so they can me excreted through the large intestines. The large intestine is basically the sewer system of your body and is responsible for moving those toxins that your liver broke down out of your system.
Your lymph system is essentially the sewer system of your blood stream and moves toxins along its pathways. The problem is that unlike your car you can’t simply replace these parts. The diet and type of food and drink you consume has a lot to do with how well your body cleanses itself!
The more your diet includes a good supply of fresh fruits, vegetables, and nuts the more you help your system cleans itself. The more your diet is made up of refined, processed, junk foods, trans fats (partially hydrogenated oils), artificial sweeteners, preservatives, dyes, etc…all the un-natural foods…the harder it is for your body to cleanse itself. Therefore, if that is you, you definitely need to be doing more cleanses and more often.
The reason for that is simple. The raw, natural foods contain all the nutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients, fiber, etc) that help keep your liver, large intestine and lymph system working well. All those nutrients are like the nuts and bolts that keep your system functioning properly. A diet with lots of processed, refined foods doesn’t give your body all those nutrients. In other words its like washing dishes with only a little bit of soap, which means your not going to clean the dishes or your body very well.
As part of the ARS Healthy Steps Program I always talk about making sure your body and adrenal glands are strong enough to handle a good detox. This is why I always first begin by nourishing or supporting your adrenal glands at the same time or before you start a good cleanse. Otherwise what often happens is that all the uprooting of all those toxins further hamper your already weakened body and causes a lot of people to feel worse on a cleanse. When you nourish those adrenals with a good adrenal support formula, at the same time or for a few weeks before the detox…you normally won’t have those negative feelings a lot of people often get from doing a detox.
There are a couple of good detox products I have successfully used and you can find on my “Recommended Products” list. One comes in the form of a meal replacement, the others are capsules…both are great. I encourage you to give one of them a try. I would also make sure you are using one of the Green Drinks during and/or after the detox because these drinks have all the essential nutrients you may not be getting in your diet if you are not eating enough fruits and veggies in your daily diet.
These ‘Green Drinks’ give you more than what you will find in a multivitamin…plus you can also add one or two of the herbal tinctures to support your liver, large intestines, adrenals, digestive or hormonal system. It is a great way in getting a bigger bang for your time, energy and money.

FYI…a lot of skin blemishes and acne occur because your body (liver, large intestine, lymph) isn’t flushing out or eliminating those toxins properly, which means your skin has to push those toxins out…and those toxins are toxic and they irritate the skin that leads to blemishes.

FYI….if your bowels aren’t moving at least one to two times a day…you probably want to add the Aloe Lax Supreme and/or the Ultra Fiber Powder, which you can find on my “Recommended Products” page. I have seen great results with both products, I especially like the Fiber powder because it is a hypo-allergenic formula made without psyllium, that seems to give a lot of people trouble. The reason we need to keep our bowels moving is that if you uproot all those toxins in your system and can’t get them out of the body – you are only going to further pollute yourself from the inside. It is a lot like shaking out your bathroom rug…in the bathroom…that doesn’t do anything.Don't forget to sign up for your FREE Copy of The STRESS Connection and to stay connected to the news and views and everything you want to know on how to stay healthy.
